NIAGARA FALLS DETOUR!
Our trio of dogs has been awesome, and catching on to the routine we now have. After getting dressed and letting them out, Steve and I decide to hit the restaurant he would have breakfast at when stopping here. It’s called the Iron Skillet. They actually have a section designated for truck drivers, which I thought was very cool for them. Our breakfast was delicious and filling. Steve opting for an omelette and I had two eggs sunny-side up, home fries and wheat toast. HUGE servings.
After breakfast we brought our slide in and packed up the animals to continue west. We are not in a rush to get to Quartzsite, but we do want to get south of the freezing line to de-winterize our plumbing. We haven’t used it outside of testing since buying the fifth-wheel. Where we were parked we used Steve’s cousins house for showers and dishes. Cooking and everything else was done with gallon jugs of water brought over and we never used the sink to drain.
Headed west, Steve takes an exit headed north. I’ve been looking at the map and realized something was up. I asked why and he replied “I know you’ve always wanted to see it, here’s our chance. Heading to Niagara Falls.” I’m so excited! That’s been a place I’ve always wanted to visit. We got there and found information on-line that says you can park RV’s legally (for the day) at the local aquarium. That puts you about a 15-20 min walk from the falls. It was very windy that day and video recording just wasn’t going to happen. It was as gorgeous as I’d hoped. Sadly we didn’t get to stay long, we both got nervous with our “House” parked in a downtown area with two of our three dogs in it. Something we both never have thought about prior to this, lol.
Leaving Niagara Falls we head west once again, passing right through the tip of PA, and into OH. One of my old dog grooming clients gave us a present before leaving. A book with information on the exits of the HWY system of the US. I had checked it and saw there was a rest area outside of Columbus OH. We found it and parked for the night. Steve recalling we lost the fridge vent when leaving my Dad’s said we need to start looking for a place to find a replacement. We finish off the night looking for an RV parts store en-route and drift off to sleep.
Tomorrow we get the truck and camper washed.
